Streptonigrin is an antitumor antibiotic metabolite that was first published by Rao and
Cullen in 1960. It was cocrystallized from a liquid extract from Streptomyces
flocculus. This antibiotic displays a broad spectrum of activity against cancers
in the human body, and also behaves as a weak acid.
Streptonigrin causes side effects such as disruption to the bone narrow, nausea, vomiting,
diarrhea, and hair loss.
