Layman's explanation: Millerite was discovered by W. Haidinger in 1845. Haidinger decided to name his mineral in honor of William H. Miller, a British mineralogist. This mineral is found mostly in South Wales coal mines in many different forms. Millerite is also found in the coal mines of Antwerp, New York; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Orford, Quebec. The practical uses of millerite are limited; it is known more as a collector s piece.
