Jade is identified as both Jadeite and Nephrite and has been used since at least 2950 B.C. Jadeite is the most valuable form of jade, called Imperial Jade in China, where it is considered a healing stone of the kidneys. The most common color of Jade is green, although it also occurs in white, orange and violet. The top countries producing Jade are Japan, Burma, California, and New Zealand. Jade is most commonly used as a jewelry item and the mystical birthstone for March.
