2,4,6-Trinitro-1,3-benzenediol, more commonly known as styphnic acid or TriNitroResorcinol, forms hexagonal yellow crystals in dilute acid. It is also soluble in ether and alcohol. The compound is used for the manufacture of dyes, pigments, inks, medicines, and explosives. It is classified as highly explosive.
