Layman's explanation: Ubiquinone is a naturally occurring coenzyme found in aerobic organisms. Also know as Coenzyme Q, it was first isolated in 1957 and was found mostly in the inner mitochondrial membrane, especially in the heart, liver, kidney, and pancreas. This substance plays an important role in the electron transport chain. Ubiquinone has recently been used to aid in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases including congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and hypertension.
