Strontianite

Strontianite is a rare carbon mineral.

Chemical Formula: Sr(CO₃)

Other names: Strontium carbonate

Layman's explanation: Strontianite was originally found in Strontian, Scotland in 1791 and named after the town. This mineral can be white, colorless, gray, yellowish or greenish. Crystals of strontianite are quite rare and are usually sold as specimens. A practical use of this compound is as a coloring agent in fireworks.
