Lysine

Lysine is one of the 8 essential amino acids and is involved with calcium absorption.

Chemical Formula: C₆H₁₄N₂O₂

Other names: 2,6-Diamino-hexanoic acid

Layman's explanation: Lysine insures absorption of calcium, assists in formation of collagen, helps maintain the nitrogen balance in the body, and aids in the production of antibodies, hormones, and enzymes. Deficiency leads to tiredness, irritability, hair loss, anemia, and inability to concentrate. Lysine is an essential substance to humans and can be found in red meats and dairy products.
