Musk xylene

Musk xylol is a substance that has a musky aroma that is included in many fragrances.

Chemical Formula: C₁₂H₁₅N₃O₆

Other names: 1-t-Butyl-3,5-dimethyl-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene

Layman's explanation: Musk xylol has been used since the early 1900s as fragrance ingredients. Natural musks are obtained from plant and animals sources, and much sought after as fixatives for perfumes. Synthetic musks are, however, of greater industrial importance. They are found in many perfumes, soaps, detergents, and cosmetics.
