Threonine

Threonine is an essential amino acid that is useful in stabilizing blood sugar.

Chemical Formula: C4H9N1O3
Other names: 2-Amino-3-hydroxy-butyric acid
Layman's explanation: Threonine is necessary for the formation of tooth enamel, elastin and collagen. Food high in threonine include: cottage cheese, fish, poultry, meat, and peanuts. Researchers suggest that increasing the amount of threonine to patients that have been burned or has serious trauma may help the recovery process. Too much threonine in the body can cause the formation of excess urea and ammonia toxicity in the body.
