Glucosamine is natural sugar molecule found in the shells of chitin(shellfish).

Chemical Formula: C₈H₁₅N₁O₆

Other names: n-acetyl-d-glucosamine

Layman's explanation: Glucosamine has been proven to be affective in treating people with arthritis and other joint related problems. It provides the lubrication necessary for cartilage to move and for joints to extend without pain. Every person naturally produces glucosamine to protect and repair cartilage, but as people age the production slows and causes arthritis or other joint problems. N-acetyl-Glucosamine supplements are available to boost the biosynthesis of the compound.
