Acetone is a major part of our body chemistry. Acetone occurs naturally in plants, trees, volcanic gases, forest fires, and as a product of the breakdown of body fat. It goes by different names like 2- propanone, pyroacetic acid, and ketopropane. As seen from previous experiences, acetone can cause health problems due to the role it plays in body functioning. Some properties of acetone are that it easily evaporates, is flammable, and can dissolve in water. Acetone is used as a solvent and reagent in the synthesis of organic compounds.
