Coronene is a yellow fibrous powder that is fairly stable, but combustible. This PAH is a major compound in gasoline engine exhaust. Coronene was recently discovered to be responsible for some astronomical phenomena, that being the effect of infrared absorption of starlight caused by the excitation of the compound s molecular vibrational modes.
