Cumene hydroperoxide is a colorless to pale yellow liquid synthesized from a solution of cumene, a compound often used as polymerization catalyst. Cumene hydroperoxide has a sharp odor and is quite combustible when in the presence of oxidizable substances. The compound decomposes exothermally at temperatures greater than 50 degrees Celsuis.
