Layman's explanation: Cinnamaldehyde has been used for thousands of years in the form of cinnamon. Cinnamon comes primarily from two sources: one is True Cinnamon and the other is Cassia, both of which are very similar in their characteristics. Cinnamon is mostly used as a spice, but is also believed to have some medicinal applications, such as a treatment of stomach pains and as a powerful stimulant. Roman Emperor Nero had his wife s body ceremoniously burned with a year s supply of cinnamon.
