Fructose

Fructose is the primary sugar found in fruits.

Chemical Formula: C₆H₁₂O₆

Layman's explanation: Fructose is a simple sugar also known as levulose or fruit sugar. Although Fructose has been around for some time, it was not discovered until the 1960s. This sugar is found in fruits and many vegetables, as well as in honey, and is used in many different types of food, including candy, baked goods, and is an ingredient in corn syrup.
