Naphthalene is a white solid that can be found naturally in fossil fuels.

Chemical Formula: C₁₀H₈

Layman's explanation: Naphthalene is mostly used to make moth repellents as well as dyes, leather and some tanning agents. Naphthalene enters the environment through the burning of wood and also through industrial uses. Naphthalene has a strong smell, evaporates easily, and can be hazardous due to its explosive tendencies.
