Scapolite

When scapolite is in a dissolution of hydrochloric acid, silica remains.

Layman's explanation: Scapolite, meaning shaft, is the name given between the series marialite and meionite which are sodium chloride and calcium carbonate rich minerals respectively. This mineral is usually white but has been seen in a variety of other colors such as red, yellow, blue, brown and green. Its structure has large open spaces which cage Na4Cl or Ca4CO3. It is soluble in HCL leaving silica. Scapolite, also known as wermerite, is used as a mineral specimen and as a gemstone.
