Boracite is an industrially important ore of boron.

Chemical Formula: B7ClMg3O13
Other names: Trimagnesium heptaborate chloride
Layman's explanation: Boracite was first discovered in Luneburg, Germany in 1789, and is a white to colorless mineral that is slightly soluble in water. It is usually orthorhombic but at high temperatures it undergoes a phase change becoming isometric. It is an ore of boron, and is used in the manufacture of cleaning agents, such as Borax, and other industrial chemicals.
