Nitroguanidine

Layman's explanation: Nitroguanidine is an flammable, explosive, Heat, light and moisture sensitive, yellow solid that may detonate under impact. The explosive power and insensitivity of this chemical make it comparable to high explosives like TNT. It is used in explosives manufacture and smokeless powder. A substantial amount of nitroguanidine is added to propellants in order to reduce muzzle flash (the result of a fuel-air explosion of the combustion products) and barrel temperatures (extensive gun barrel erosion due to high flame temperatures). Nitroguanidine derivatives are used as insecticides. However nitroguanidine and its derivatives are probable human carcinogens that may cause reproductive damage.
