Allene

Allene is a chiral compound.

Chemical Formula: C3H4
Other names: 1,2-Propadiene
Layman's explanation: Allene is the simplest member of the 1,2-diene class of compounds. It is a colorless, flammable gas at room temperature and insoluble in water but soluble in benzene. Allenes are not as stable as conjugated dienes or isolated dienes. It is chiefly used in organic synthesis, as chain-transfer reagent in production of polybutadiene and as fuel gas (a mixture with propyne) in the metal-working industry.
Keywords: fuel gas, unstable
