Chromium trioxide is used as a strong acid and oxidizing agent in laboratories. It is also used as wood preservative, in chromium plating, Magnetic Tapes, Catalyst, copper stripping, aluminum anodizing, as corrosion inhibitor, in photography, purifying oil, in organic synthesis, fungicides, and fire-retardant chemicals.
