Hydrazine is a clear hygroscopic liquid that is toxic and flammable. This chemical was once used as a missile fuel but eventually was replaced by UDMH.
Current applications of hydrazine include its use in preventing corrosion by removing oxygen from boiler water; as a building block for agricultural chemicals; and as a monopropellant for satellite station motors. It is also used as a chemical intermediate to produce spandex fibers and antioxidants. Additionally, it is used for plating metals on glass and plastics and in fuel cells, solders fluxes, and photographic developers.
