Isophthalic acid

Chemical Formula: C8H6O4
Other names: Benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid
Layman's explanation: Isophthalic acid is one of the three simple aromatic dicarboxylic acids with the carboxyl groups in the meta postions. It is used to produce isophthalic polyester that together with other components is used in resin systems for flame retardants and in corrosion prevention.
