Acyclovir hydrate

A viral inhibitor commonly used as a medication for HIV and Aids patients.

Chemical Formula: C8H11N5O3
Other names: 9-((2-Hydroxyethoxy)methyl)guanine
Layman's explanation: Acyclovir hydrate is used in the treatment of shingles and herpes simplex virus and as well as other types of herpes viral infections. This may help people co-infected with HIV and herpes simplex live longer. High dose acyclovir is used to treat hairy leukoplakia, a viral infection which usually shows up on both sides of the tongue. Possible side effects of this therapeutic substance are stomach pain, headache, nausea and/or hair-loss.
