Trunculin BTrunculin B has been isolated from a marine sponge, Lautrunculia brevis.
Chemical Formula:
C25H40O5
Other names:
Trunculin B methyl ester
Layman's explanation:
Trunculin B was isolated from the marine sponge Latrunculia brevis in 1886 by Ridley and Dendy. Trunculin B has been recently found to be an ester and a cyclic peroxide of the Latrunculia brevis sponge. This sponge can be found off of the coasts of Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, these sponges can be found in scientific laboratories where they are being cultivated to produce sponge-sourced metabolites.
