(R)-Carnitine

R-Carnitine is an important biological molecule that plays a role in fat metabolism.

Chemical Formula: C7H15N1O3
Layman's explanation: R-Carnitine, which is a B vitamin, plays a major role in changing stored body fat into energy in mammals. Its primary role is to transport large fat molecules into cellular compartments, where energy metabolism takes place. Without R-Carnitine fats would collect within the cells and the in bloodstream. R-Carnitine has been used in therapy as a stimulator of fatty acid degradation and also used as medicine for hemodialysis, heart disease, and myopathic deficiency.
Keywords: B Vitamin, metabolism, hemodialysis, myopathic deficiency, stimulator
