Inesite

Inesite is a rose colored mineral often mistaken for rhodochrosite.

Chemical Formula: H₁₂Ca₂Mn₇O₃₅Si₁₀

Other names: Dicalcium heptamanganese closo-28-oxodecasilicate dihydroxide; Hydrated Calcium Manganese Silicate Hydroxide

Layman's explanation: Inesite is a fairly uncommon mineral that occasionally forms, pink, orange or red to rose colored, triclinic specimens. It is often mistaken for rhodochrosite because of its rose color and slants of the crystals. However, rhodochrosite's crystals have six faces while inesite's crystals only have one steeply slanted face. It is used as a mineral specimen for collectors.
