Layman's explanation: Phloroglucinol is a white powder, soluble in alcohol and ether. It is used as a bone decalcifying agent, as a floral preservative, and in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. The aromatic alcaline phloroglucinol is used in several hair dyes and colors as an antioxidant and hair colorant.
