Silver telluride is a soft, steel-gray, lustrous mineral.

Layman's explanation: Hessite was named in 1843 for Henri Hess, Swiss-Russian Chemist of St. Petersburg. It is a steel-gray to lead-gray mineral with a metallic luster, occuring as pseudo-cubic crystals up to 1.7 cm. This is a very soft mineral; it's Mohs' hardness is only 1.5, and it is known for its ability to be cut with a knife.
