Layman's explanation: Oxybenzone is one of the compounds that are used in sunscreens with high Sun Protection Factors (SPF) to block ultraviolet radiation, both UVA and UVB. It converts light into heat Recent studies show however that it also may cause certain skin cancers (melanoma).
